RBTV team member, Hunter “HuntDawg” Andrews, got to
punch his MT elk tag this past weekend after a nasty 10 days in the backcountry. “It was a tough hunt with 45 mph winds and freezing rain on 5 out of the 10 days we were in there,” says Andrews. Hunter went in with his camp and gear crammed into a Badlands 2200 pack and stayed with the elk day after day. Hunter and his crew called in a number of bulls before everything finally came together for a shot. On the 18th, Hunter put it all together on his bull. It was a 42-yard uphill poke…and Hunter put an arrow through the bull’s heart. It was a great shot and a great end to a tough week-and-a-half in the backcountry of Montana. Congrats to Hunter on stickin’ with it to get the job done on his 2010 bull.

Bowhunting Ground Squirrels With Dad
Monday, April 19th, 2010My little 4-year-old boy, Aidan, has been somewhat obsessed with slingin’ arrows lately. He’s finally got where he can draw back his Diamond Nuclear Ice bow on his own and he’s quite fascinated by the distance he can now fling an arrow. He loves to watch the arrow fly and he’s always trying to sling an arrow long range…over the fence…and if you don’t watch him, over the house! Today after church, he and I took our bows out to see if we could sneak up on a few ground squirrels in a big field I hunt, just outside of town. While he was quite content just flingin’ arrows at rocks, stumps, or anything else I’d suggest, he did get a kick out of trying to sneak up on the squirrels before they dove back in their holes. While we spooked far more than we got to shoot at, we did manage to keep a few from making it back below ground. I got to shed a little blood with my virgin BowTech Destroyer on a fatty squirrel that stood around a bit too long…and Aidan particularly enjoyed making sure it was dead with a few follow-up arrows of his own!

WA Turkey Success
Monday, April 19th, 2010Newly-engaged RB Team members, Matt Alwine and Shannon McLaughlin got the job done when the WA season
opened last week. Shannon’s bird paid the price on tax day (WA Turkey Opener) when it stepped within range of her pink bow! The couple that kill turkeys together…stays together! Matt punched a turkey tag of his own that day, and Shannon went on to punch her second turkey tag, wrapping up her WA turkey season in under 48 hours! Congrats Shannon! Keep it up!

Team RB Strikes Quick on Montana Turkey Opener
Monday, April 19th, 2010
Reality Bowhunting Team Member, Dave Oligee, wasted no time breaking in his new Bowtech Destroyer on the opener of Montana’s spring turkey season. It was an awesome hunt with the action happening quick as birds pitched from the roost and lit within bowrange of our Double Bull blind and decoy. We used the DSD hen decoy on this opening morning set and once again, it provided lots of entertaining encounters as the birds came to investigate the imposter. Watch for this hunt coming up soon as we run turkey shows “thru the season” as we continue to bring you Reality Bowhunting…
