Zeke’s Bowhunting Article

Friday, June 29th, 2012

I can assure you, any article you read by my buddy, Zeke Pipher, will be a great read. His latest, “Where the Deer and Antelope Play” in Petersen’s Bowhunting Magazine is particularly exciting to me for several reasons. One, it’s a story that revolves around the critters in the place we now call home. Two, the article features a couple of my own support photos. Ugly faces in beautiful places!
Be sure to pick up the current issue of Petersen’s Bowhunting (August 2012) and check out Zeke’s article, as well as all the other great bowhunting adventure stories.

Chris’ Bear

Wednesday, June 27th, 2012

Chris Blaskowski recently got to punch his Idaho bear tag while hunting with his brother and K-mac. Chris shot the blackie with his new Centaur longbow and the bear fell dead within bow range of Chris’ treestand.
Congrats Chris!

Bowhunting Bike

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

My father-in-law gave me this mountain bike several years back. It was bright yellow at the time, so I gave it a paint job to help it blend a little better in the woods when I ditch it off the trail on backcountry bowhunts this fall.  I went out this morning for a 12 mile break-in ride to make sure everything is still working well.  It was a great ride. Saw lots of critters. Can’t wait for hunting season!

The Montana YBC Crew

Monday, June 18th, 2012

Here’s the crew from last week’s Montana Youth Bowhunter Camp. I thank God for the men and women we had for staff this year from VA, GA, TN, and right here in Montana. Couldn’t have done it without them! We’re already making plans for next year!

Dave’s Bear

Sunday, June 17th, 2012

Dave gave this bear a free pass the first time it walked into the bait site in order to let him have a few more years to grow. But days later, just moments after asking God to put a bear in front of him, the bear showed up again. Dave couldn’t pass the bear up again, considering it was surely a gift from God. He made the shot and the bear went a short distance before hitting the ground. Congrats Dave!

Dave killed the bear with his own Simmons Shark broadhead. Check out his website at http://simmonssharks.com

Bro’s Bear

Monday, June 4th, 2012

After reviewing my trail camera at an Idaho bait site the other day, I climbed into my treestand with great confidence that I was gonna kill a bear on that particular evening. A bear had showed up just before dark the previous evening…and with food still available in the bait barrel, there was no doubt in my mind he’d be back. Sure enough, as I sat in my stand reading my Bible, I caught movement up the hill. A black blob was moving through the brush just 50 yards up the hill. I was actually surprised how early the bear arrived, as it was still several hours before dark. I flipped the video camera on and let it roll as the chunky black bear made his approach. I watched the bear for 20 minutes or so before finally getting enough of a broadside shot to do my thing. The bear went nuts when I dropped the string! I was relieved to see him run the other way as he growled and roared his way up the hill. He went just 50 yards…then all was calm again. The bear was mine!

Takin’ Care of Business

Sunday, June 3rd, 2012

There’s blood on the hands…and a bear on the ground! I got to do a little damage the other night in the bear woods of Idaho. There’s lots of bears getting the shaft right now by our bowhunting brothers. More pix and stories to come…
